Marble
Marble is a granular-crystalline limestone with impurities, formed by the metamorphosis of carbonate sheds (sedimentary rocks of limestone and dolomite) under conditions of elevated temperature and lithostatic pressure. Pure marble is snow-white in color, and admixtures of metal oxides give it yellow, brown or reddish color, graphite, charcoal and bitumen gray or black and chlorite greenish color. It is easy to cut, process and polish, which is why it has long been used in construction and art. It is prized for its milky color, translucency and warmth reminiscent of human touch.
